Five Free Resources for Fiction Submissions-AuthorToolbox
Five places (that aren’t Writer’s Market) to help you sell your fiction or poetry
While there’s nothing inherently wrong with the Writer’s Market listings, I’ve always found their database too large and unruly to work with easily. These five databases are more user-friendly, which will save you more time for writing.
Blog listing open markets for fiction and poetry. Sister site is useful for freelancers looking for more gigs
Lists tons of literary magazines and open calls for submissions

Publishing and Other Forms of Insanity
Contests, agents, tips, and everything else you need to get published under one roof

Have a short story? Find a market on the grinder. Simple, clean interface lets your search by genre, word count, and even pay/non-paying.

The contest queen. Mica keeps track of every free event out there: contests, grants, free twitter events, etc., all organized on her free calendar (no sign-ups necessary)
bonus listing:
A website grown from the popular Twitter tag, it reads like a dating site for agents. Find the one who’s looking for your manuscript.

Hopefully, these resources will help you reach your publishing goals. Remember, you are trying to sell your work, not line someone else’s pockets. Never pay submission fees or reading fees and be wary of contests that charge entry fees.
(If you need to brush up on your query letters click here.)
Best of luck with your 2018 submissions.
